How to launch their products and services during a crisis
The first question is: Is this appropriate? It depends on your intention and how. Some Questions to ask: Are you interested or if you are actually assisting the people? What can you offer to help free people in need? Can you comment, advice or circumstances that in perspective? Have you helped people in similar situations? You rarely the ideas of other scholars have not considered?
Barry Pascal gifts and decorative accessories, gift shop and pharmacy combination told me his story of how he helped his community after earthquake Northridge 1994, when I spoke at Los Angeles Auto Show presents one months. His story is a perennial for any disaster.
Shirley and Barry Pascal sleep earthquake occurred early in the morning January 17, 1994. They ran to his shop, a pharmacy 61 years and the oldest pending cases in the city. The damage was "a thousand times worse our home, "said Barry. A large part of its inventory of gift shop glass and other delicate items, with all its windows were destroyed.
Before 9:30 Pajama customers went to the pharmacy, some seek remedies for their injuries, most hoping to find recipes for essential medicines. Many of these people were not used, but Pascal took over and charged them wholesale prices anyway. People came out of cash have been given medication free.
My rating: The Pascal reacted with genuine concern for the disaster and helped people in a way that makes sense for your business.
Shirley creating a first-aid center in the door. Over the next four days, teams of pharmacists and employees stood at the door to help all those who came for the products and medicine. After attending to immediate physical needs of the population, Pascal returned to his emotional self. The area resembled a war zone "depressing" for the employee to sign Pascal to design a mural painter in plywood happy Wizard of Oz with the yellow brick road, Man Tin, the Lion and the Scarecrow and the words ", Northridge. No place like home."
MY NOTE: The Pascal came up with a creative, fun and inspiring idea that morality of the community.
After that, have designed T-shirts with the same slogan and has donated approximately $ 3000 benefits to the Northridge Chamber of Commerce that belonged to Barry, saving it from breaking up.
My rating: The Pascal focused on maintaining important aspects of tact in the Community.
Good news travels fast. When the California State Senate is in an excellent community service Pascal, Barry was asked to be one of two co-presidents of the Northridge earthquake force whose duties include the creation of proposals to improve preparedness. Barry also has worked on a committee that worked with the Red Cross, the state and the California Pharmacists Association to develop an emergency plan for pharmacies. My rating: Barry has been recognized as a leader within his community to take action and develop systems that operate during a disaster. It also helped restore community, both physically and emotionally – skills necessary for disaster planning legislation future.
Today, more than six years later, people still remember. Every day at least one person comes by the store just to thank Pascal for his help, or tell them that despite having left the area where they make a special trip to do business with a gift from the Hall of Pharmacy / Northridge.
