Remember the tread separation still plague the auto industry
Firestone had to undertake a massive recall of tires 2000 involving tires made for SUVs. Of about 14 million units sold, the approximately 6.5 million still on the road were recalled.
The history, highlighted by the death of many reversals, has been in the news for months and had a severe impact from the manufacturer. Among other things, consumers angry have often said that replacement tires are not in stock. The recall does not work correctly. While it is encouraging to know these defects are identified, it seems that the point of view of consumers, the mass withdrawal in 2000, along with the subsequent federal legislation, should have eliminated the problems of the tread. Obviously this is not the case. Obviously, consumers should not be complacent about tire safety concerns, which continue to affect industry in danger of tread separation.
